3 Stellar Ways to Enjoy a Springfree at Night

“Space is for everybody. It’s not just for a few people in science or math, or for a select group of astronauts. That’s our new frontier out there, and it’s everybody’s business to know about space.” – Christa McAuliffe

3 Stellar Ways to Enjoy a Springfree at Night

With the news buzzing about "ordinary" citizens traveling to space lately, it's easy to let your mind roam to dreams of space expeditions. As parents, you want your kids to reach for the stars in all their future endeavors, and we at Springfree Trampoline want to help you encourage that boundless imagination. In celebration of the brightest time of the year (the holidays), we've gone all starry-eyed about new ways to enjoy more quality family time. Good news! It's all available in your own little universe, i.e., the backyard.

  1. Stargaze

Your Springfree is not only your rocket to astronaut training (yes, NASA actually documented the benefits of jumping), but also your mission control to gaze at the stars with your crew. So, let gravity take over and lie down on the surface of your trampoline and look to the sky.

Grab the telescope and get up close to the brilliant cosmos. Did you know there's even an International Observe the Moon Night every year? Gear up, read up and prepare for fun and learning of infinite proportions.

Use this opportunity to incorporate a little science into the moment. Discuss all things space-related, including constellations, planets and weather. Or just soak in the silence and see what evolves. You may be surprised what the stillness and beauty of the night will compel your child to bring up as conversation. These bonding opportunities are as rare as a shooting star. Don't miss it.

  1. Astronomical Adventure

Turn your Springfree into the most epic space station. String twinkling lights on the exterior of the net, hang up a sheet as a screen and view shuttle launches to feel like you're right there in the action.

Map out your future flight path on the surface of your trampoline with glow-in-the-dark or neon chalk. Or draw what you spy in the sky and connect dots to create your own unique constellations.

To truly make an out-of-this-world moment, have the kids dress up in cosmic costumes. Try some of these DIY options for the whole family to get space-crafty. Wearing an outfit can open up a whole universe of creative stories and role playing. Who knows? Maybe your kid will discover a new career path—straight to the stars.

  1. Backyard Galactic Games

Blast off into the great beyond with a round of games that are sure to ignite imagination.

  1. Meteorite Toss: Set out buckets across the backyard. Label with planet names. Wad up aluminum foil into balls. Toss into buckets. Reward points based on accuracy and distance.
  2. Moon Rock Hunt: Color rocks with glow-in-the-dark spray paint. Hide around the yard and have kids search for them.
  3. Space Dance Freeze: Turn on some space-related music* and wiggle around, moonwalk, do the robot, or whatever your favorite dance move is. Then, stop the music and everyone has to freeze. Those who don't will be eliminated. Continue until there's a winner.

No matter how you plan your star-studded evening, remember the most important particle: family. A strong bond is crucial to keeping the atmosphere lively and your world in a healthy orbit. Spending time together will brighten their days (and nights). And always remind them that you love them to the moon and back.
