Nice Erin. I seriously am suggesting Salsa, abs are still hurting 3 days since my last go!

We need to brainstorm... thinking about turning our Fun and Fitness Program into a company wide Health and Fitness Program.

Maybe we give credits for really constructive healthy stuff, and by getting involved people can work up to some cool prizes... early finishes, extra day off etc...

Just another Idea (JIA) Ha ha!!

Today I have four entries into the Toyota Kluger/Springfree trampoline promotion with Wonderwhite....great the entries close at 11:59pm on 14th February, 2010 - tonight that is and the site has closed the competition entry early. That is very unfair - and is the competition now legal?

Hi , just thought that you should know that I tried to enter this competition on line as instructed on Sunday 14th at 4.10 pm via the internet and was advised that the competition was closed on 14th Feb at 11.59pm AEDST. Maybe the online site closed the competition at 11.59am in error. A bit sad for my 10 year old trying to win something. Regards Jacqui

Funny things like house left unlocked and dressing the family dog in baby clothing to get perspective, spring to mind!

Hi Joe, Thanks for your comments and honesty about something which has become a pet hate of mine. Adding to your view, I do think the media and popular culture is driving our society's habit of shortening and mis-spelling words. So much that I was shocked to discover when my son started Year 1 in the Queensland school system that they actually REWARD attempts at spelling words incorrectly! The attitude of "well, he was close!" seemed to be good enough. I'm showing my age now, but shouldn't we be teaching them how to spell correctly in the first place (as in my day)? Needless to say we've moved schools. SMS'ing I think is also widening the correct spelling of common words. Gr8 you say? Not I! Let's teach children correct spelling, grammar and while we're at it, how to actually construct a sentence. Your advice recommending children read aloud their work is very valid (and something I'll be starting with homework this week, so thanks). Thanks for the post and advice, Joe.
Cheers, Tanya

I seriously doubt that writing is becoming a lost art. It is perhaps messier than in the past, due to lack of practice, but it is still essential. You'd probably find that 7 out of 10 parents do not take enough interest in their child's education and therefore have no idea what the children are doing in school. My concern is not that people are losing the art of writing, but that they have no concept of spelling and grammar, as clearly indicated by this post.

There is a definite difference between then and than, as in more than, and then I did something else. It is also important that children are taught the difference between there, their and they're. If you're not sure look it up and correct your children.

Along with correct capitalisation, children should be encouraged to reread their work aloud and look for simple mistakes, rather than wait for their teacher to correct it. Simple errors like, "how young are kids when they areown a mobile phone" (sic) are easy to pick up and correct before publishing.

My problem with technology is that people have become lazy when expressing themselves and wait for the computer to give them a squiggly red line, or a green one (though they rarely know how to correct this). The trouble is, most computers aren't smart enough to pick up the subtle differences in the language that only a good education can provide.

Get off facebook and go see what your kids are doing.

I am a huge Kidspot & Kidspot Social (www.kidspot.com.au). It is a great website to interact with other mothers and chat about anything - trampolines, products, child concerns, presents, party ideas etc. I love ebay and recently I have been viewing alot of small upcoming businesses on facebook. This is great because you can by some fantastic unique presents.
