Halloween Safety Tips for Trick-or-Treaters

As you all know, Springfree Trampoline is the number one trampoline for safety. We want your children – whether they’re a ghost, a witch or a superhero – to stay safe this Halloween.

Follow these easy tips for a safe night of trick-or-treating:

Plan your route with your kids before you head out and be sure to stay in familiar neighborhoods.
Accompany your children trick-or-treating or ensure that they are under the supervision of a trusted adult.
Watch out for the jack-o-lanterns on the doorsteps as open flame can be dangerous for young kids. Halloween is one of the top five days for candle fires.
Stay on the sidewalk as unpaved roads and lawns can be a tripping hazard.
Look both ways before crossing the street for oncoming traffic.
Increase visibility of your kids by putting them in brightly colored costumes and by using a flashlight or glowsticks.
Wear layers to make sure you and your kids are warm and comfortable for the outdoors.

How else do you ensure your children stay safe on Halloween night? Share some tips by commenting.

From all of us at Springfree Trampoline, we wish you a fun and safe Halloween. BOO!

Who’s hot in the kitchen? Springfree™ Trampoline Bouncy Managers that’s who!

Undefined

Our Aussie Management team is taking part in the 2011Kidsafe Cook-off in King George Square on national Kidsafe Day, Tuesday 25 October, to help raise money and keep kids out of hospital.

Springfree will be hot in the kitchen!

This great foodie challenge will see 15 teams, each representing a different occupation; compete to seek who’s best at cooking up a storm. (*Ahem,

we already know who is but we’ll go along for the fun ;)

With just two hours, two testing challenges and only a one-burner barbeque, teams of four will cook their hearts out to please a panel of celebrated chef judges and become culinary champions.

Sponsored by Channel 10 and Sizzler, the Kidsafe Cook-off 2011 will start at 11.15am with a basic cooking challenge. If you’re in the area make sure you pop down and support the bouncy managers from Springfree! We’ll also have an R79 (medium round) set-up to give all supporters a jump.

Kidsafe is a national not-for-profit organisation with the aim of keeping kids out of hospital. All proceeds from the day will be used to further Kidsafe’s current driveway safety campaign. In Queensland alone, three children are run over in low-speed incidents each week, usually at their own homes.

We hope to see you there! Make sure you wish our managers luck .

Hear It. See It. Speak It: Organic Foods

Undefined

At Springfree Trampoline, we encourage healthy family lifestyles. Health is not just about moving your body but also about what you put in your body!

Organic produce – crops grown without pesticides or fertilizers – is a common fixture in grocery stores. Because of expensive farming techniques, organic foods typically cost 50% more than their ordinary counterparts. For families on a budget, the benefits of organic foods weighed against their high cost can be a dilemma.

The results of our latest Facebook poll, show that many of you consciously choose to purchase organic for your family.

Springfree fans offered a few alternate and cost-effective ways to eat organic without breaking the bank, like growing your own produce right your backyard. Great idea!

Another fan, Kristy McDaniel, suggested a co-op agreement with a nearby organic farm. With a co-op you get all your fruits and vegetable for a great price, often cheaper than non-organics. Thanks for the suggestion, Kristy!

If you’re on a budget, try prioritizing your organic purchases. According to the Environmental Working Group, the following 12 types of produce have the highest pesticide residues. Try to purchase these fruits and vegetables organic whenever possible:

  • Peaches
  • Strawberries
  • Nectarines
  • Apples
  • Pears
  • Cherries
  • Spinach
  • Celery
  • Sweet Bell Peppers
  • Potatoes
  • Lettuce
  • Grapes (imported)

These fragile produce, also known as the “dirty dozen”, often require more pesticides to fight off pests. A good rule of thumb is to always wash your produce before you consume them whether they are organic or not. Happy (and healthy) eating!
